I love writing & have written for stage and radio.
I have a love for performance art in all it's incarnations and worked in community theatre and some television work.
Now some of my week is spent as a Cancer Care Nurse Coordinator supporting people going through intensive cancer therapies and seeing them come out the other side.
I believe the celebrants role is a supportive one encouraging people to be who they are and expressing themselves on some of the most important days/ events of their lives.

Why I'm a celebrant: I really want to get alongside people, encourage them and write ceremonies that work for them.
Weddings.
I have always loved weddings, loved celebrating love and the commitment it represents, so being a celebrant means I can do it all again & help other people navigate their special day.
Funerals
My dad had a military funeral. All I can remember is the gun carriage. We weren't encouraged to be involved. Thankfully things have changed and I want to be part of that change. Now you can plan a ceremony that is not bound by tradition if you don't want it to be. There are so many options to have something memorable & reflective of the person you are saying goodbye to.

Treasured memories: Peter and I got married 22 years ago & we had a ball!
We spent a lot of time laughing and we still do.
The wedding day was very relaxed but we planned it together. Fortunately we had similar ideas but if we clashed, we took turns at compromising.
While traditional at times, we were able to inject our personality and sense of fun into the ceremony.
Family and friends still comment on what a great day it was.
Our wedding was the first day of our married life together and it was epic.
Not in the sense of Star Wars with a big budget and a huge cast. There were no special effects.
Actually it was really simple but quirky and we will never forget it.

Tips : It is important to plan your wedding in a relaxed and methodical way.
Carry a notebook and write ideas down as they come to you.
Don't stress.
Don't second guess yourself. Go with your heart or your gut. Whichever body part works for you.
Do the time critical things first. Date, Venue, Celebrant and if less than 3 months get the legal paperwork completed.
Take your time with the fun stuff but don't procrastinate too much as some venders are popular and book out quickly.
The important people to consider are you and your partner, so check in with one an other to ensure you are on track ( in so many ways).

and I'd like to say: Choosing a celebrant you warm to is essential. Someone who can tell your story and support you on the day with encouragement, empathy and connection.
