Deb Wain
Civil Celebrant
Celebrant background: My past experience in communication and expression as a secondary school teacher, published poet and author helped to hone my public speaking skills.
These days, aside from being a celebrant, I also teach creative writing & literature subjects at a number of universities.
Why I'm a celebrant: I love being part of such a special time in a couple’s lives. I get a great deal of satisfaction from helping them to express what they want to say to each other.
Treasured memories: To me, the variety of memories is what makes being a celebrant amazing—from performing an elopement for my sister to dressing up for themed events, from very traditional ceremonies for conservative couples to wild and whacky for those not-so-conservative.
Although it’s hard to go past performing a wedding for family, my next favourite would be the ‘tough’ groom who cried throughout the ceremony. It was such an emotional experience for everyone there.

Tips : Choose a celebrant and a ceremony that works well with the kind of person (and couple) that you are.
and I'd like to say: I love what I do.
